As the bell rang, Ben gave me a light jab and signaled to follow him
through the door and out to the other side of the building. Our room was
nearest to the central building. We were headed to the other room that
also near the central building.
I stood awkwardly outside as we stopped, Ben's head stuck in the crack of the door. I could barely hear what he was saying but it was clear he was looking for someone. I heard a tone of recognition, though I failed to catch the name of who he sought in the room. As the person in question stepped out of the room, my heart froze.
Funny, it never did that before when I meet strangers.
"Ram, this is Lisa." Ben began, pointing from me to her. "We went to the same school. You know, the one that I transferred to from two years back." he added.
Oh and what do you know, I also choke with strangers. Wonderful. She barely managed to squeeze "...Hi." I could barely squeeze anything.
Ben gave me a 'what-are-you-doing' pat on my shoulder. He could barely contain his laughter, from the looks of it. Finally, I managed a "...Hey." My god I could barely hold her gaze. But here's to guts, I guess. "..Uh. Can I.. uh.. Can I have your number?" I said, which almost sounded like I was choking at every word. She gave a cute nod. I didn't know that nods could be cute too.
I thought only dogs were cute.
Ben sported an idiotic grin, while I scrambled for my phone in my pocket. As I dialed in her numbers, my fingers fidgeting in the process, my mind swirled into chaos. Or confusion. Perhaps both. As I recited mine, I had a good look at her. She was just about my height, her hair stops just past her jaw line. She wears glasses, and it's like her face is encased in the shape of a heart, given that her bangs that split in the middle curl on opposite ends that would resemble a heart.
I managed to crack a smile from my lips, and thankfully, she returned the gesture. Ben and I waved goodbye and returned to our room. I checked my phone again if I had her number in already, and yes, I did.
Little did I know that The Story With No Ending has already begun.
